The New Taylor Academy Series & GS Mini-e Bass
At this year’s Winter NAMM show, Taylor Guitars announced some exciting additions to their acoustic guitar line-up, the newly designed Academy Series and the GS Mini-e Bass! While these models are geared towards entry level players, professional musicians and Taylor fans alike are anxious to get these in their hands.
The new Academy Series encompasses Taylor’s decades of experience in guitar making, and solves the problems that most beginners encounter. Things that can be frustrating to a new player like high action, bad intonation, and an uncomfortable body, are all addressed in this new series. Let’s take a look…
Two body shapes take the focus on the new Academy Series, the traditional Dreadnought as well as Taylor’s Grand Concert body. Available in both acoustic, and acoustic/electric, and a Grand Concert Nylon String model, players have a lot to choose from. Simplicity is key though, removing non-necessities like binding and a heavy gloss finish. Only the things that need to be there are kept, like high quality woods, and an armrest to make the instrument more comfortable. Here at MusiciansBuy.com, we are anxiously awaiting our first shipments of these arriving this Spring. Pre-Order yours now and be the first in the country to own one of these game changing guitars!!
The New Taylor GS-Mini Bass
It’s no secret that the release of the GS-Mini guitar put Taylor at the forefront of the short scale/travel guitar market years ago. And they’ve re-invented themselves yet again for 2017 with the release of the GS Mini-e Bass, a short scale acoustic-electric bass guitar with a giant sound.
As much as traveling bass players will enjoy this instrument, first time players, kids, and even guitarists will be able to enjoy this 23.5” scale bass and take it anywhere!
And the GS Mini wasn’t the only thing re-designed to make this magical bass a reality. Taylor worked very closely with D’Addario Strings to design a custom set of short scale strings, which feature a nylon core covered in phosphor bronze for that fat, punchy bass sound.
