What’s the difference between an “Acoustic Guitar Amplifier” and an “Electric Guitar Amplifier?”

Depending on the type of guitar you own will determine the ‘type’ of guitar amplifier you may be in the market for. Each type of guitar (acoustic or electric) is designed for a specific sound and tone frequency, hence the choice between two ‘styles’ of amplifiers.
Acoustic Guitar Amplifiers
Many acoustic guitar amplifiers can be thought of as ‘mini’ P.A. (Public Address) Systems. These types of amplifiers are designed to amplify a clean signal without changing or distorting the sound (tone) of the acoustic guitar. Smaller sized, low wattage acoustic amplifiers may have (1) dedicated input for the acoustic guitar. Larger sized, higher wattage acoustic amplifiers may have (2) or more inputs that guitarists can use to perform (1 dedicated input for the acoustic guitar and 1 (or more) microphone inputs) for a singer. Each may have dedicated volume controls for each input as well.
Electric Guitar Amplifiers
Electric amplifiers are designed to enhance the sound of the electric guitar’s signal from the pickups. These types of amplifiers are designed for both a clean signal and ‘overdrive’ tone (distortion). Typically electric guitar amplifiers will only have (1) dedicated input for the instrument. Guitarists will also choose an electric guitar amplifier based upon the sound (or tone) they are searching for (amazing how different brands will sound differently with the same guitar). Also, many electric guitar amplifiers will have more options in regards to ‘altering’ the tone of the instrument and amount of gain (distortion) the guitarist is looking for. Electric guitar amplifiers also come in a variety of sizes and wattage options depending on the needs of the guitarist.
